Alright, friends, let’s kick things off by setting the stage. Social media has become the cornerstone of modern marketing, offering entrepreneurs unparalleled access to their target audience. But with so many platforms and strategies to choose from, where do you even begin? Fear not, dear listeners, because we’ve got a stellar lineup to share all the insights and tips for navigating the social media maze.
You should begin by establishing two platforms that you are going to dedicate your focus to working on. Once you master these two, you can add more platforms to your marketing plan if you want to. Having two platforms will help you reach a broad audience in your niche but it will be easier to maintain then trying to create content and participate on too many platforms at once.
Decide which two platforms you want to be on based on who and where your niche is hanging out. Based on Zapier here are some demographics per platform.
Facebook is popular among all demographics. Of particular note is the high number of people aged 65+ who use the platform (46%); in fact, Facebook is the most popular social media site for that age group. And while YouTube attracts more visitors in the 18-29 age group, more than three-fourths (79%) of people aged 18-29 use Facebook.
YouTube is essentially popular among everyone. While slightly more men watch the channel than women, more than two-thirds of both women and men report spending time on YouTube. And while the largest percentage of users is in the 18-29 age group, people of all age groups report spending time on YouTube, including more than one-third of online seniors.
Instagram tends to appeal to more women than men, more people aged 18-49 than people 50+, and more people living in urban and suburban areas than in rural areas. With that said, men do use Instagram, as do people over 50 and people living in rural areas—just in smaller percentages than their counterparts.
One thing to note about Pinterest is that its audience skews far more female than male: 42% of U.S. women use the platform, as opposed to only 15% of U.S. men. Beyond that, people of all age groups tend to use the platform in fairly equal numbers—including 15% of people 65+—and similar percentages of people living in urban, suburban, and rural areas use Pinterest.
More than half of U.S. adults who have graduated from college use LinkedIn, but only 9% of people who haven’t attended college frequent LinkedIn. Additionally, people of all age groups use LinkedIn, including people who’ve hit retirement age, though usage of the platform is less prevalent for the 65+ age group.
Twitter is equally popular among men and women, but it tends to be used more by people aged 18-49 than those aged 50+. Additionally, Twitter is slightly more popular among people with some college education or college degrees, and it’s used slightly more by people in urban and suburban areas than people in rural areas.

Now that we’ve laid the groundwork, it’s time to crack the code of social media marketing. From crafting engaging content to harnessing the power of hashtags, we will now share the tried-and-true strategies for maximizing your online presence and connecting with your audience on a deeper level. One of the biggest mistakes I see entrepreneurs make is treating social media as just another advertising platform. Instead, focus on building authentic connections with your audience by sharing valuable content, engaging with their comments and messages, and showcasing the human side of your brand. This is where people really connect with you. This also helps when it comes to storytelling and getting your products and services connected with your audience.
Now that you have determined where your audience is hanging out you will need to dive deep into what works on that platform. Do you use hashtags on Linkedin? Each platform has a different way to market, connect and master the algorithm. Some platforms are aimed at videos where another platform is mainly photos. You need to find the platform with your audience but also the ones that work with your content.
Let’s talk about the tools of the trade. No social media marketer worth their salt would be caught without their arsenal of handy tools and resources. From scheduling apps to analytics dashboards, let’s talk about my favorite tool for streamlining your social media workflow and maximizing your efficiency.
One of my go-to tools is Metricool, which helps me schedule posts across multiple platforms and analyze their performance in real-time. It’s a game-changer for staying organized and staying ahead of the curve in today’s fast-paced digital landscape. You can schedule posts, reels, stories, and more! Metricool has been called the swiss army knife of social media.
If you are thinking of starting a social media agency or offering SM management as one of your services this is an amazing platform to use, as you can have several brand accounts in one location.
In addition to analyzing your own social media content across platforms you can also analyze your competitors… wwwhhhaatttt… Yeessss….
Next must have tool is Canva. You and create all of your social media graphics and even videos in this platform. Brand them to your business and go. You can also use tons of templates that Canva already has for you, just change them up to fit your needs and brand and you are all set.
To keep it sweet and simple these are the two main tools you need to rock on social media right now.
